Dear Competitors!

We bid farewell to Árpád Tóth, the professional mentor of our club, whose presence greatly contributed to the successes of recent years.

Árpád Tóth, known to everyone as Uncle Árpi, provided us with immense professional and personal support over the past decades. Without his dedicated work, the Hungarian agility scene and community would be much poorer. Following his passing last summer, we would like to once again pay our respects to his memory. Thank you for everything, Uncle Árpi!

This is a huge moment in the life of the club. The often criticised artificial grass has been replaced. Five years of work have come to life and through a specific tender we have achieved our plans (NEAE-KP-1-2024/1-000505). Thanks to the support of the Prime Minister’s Office, Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt, National Cooperation Fund and the Municipality of Gyula, we purchased the new JUTA Grass PLAY COMFORT Agility artificial grass, which is essential for the successful running of the competition. This has removed the obstacles caused by the worn artificial grass. I invite you to Gyula for more than 29 years. I’ll do it again and I promise you won’t be disappointed this time too. The quality of the competition will be guaranteed by two invited judges, Jirina Mackova and Csaba Korán. We welcome you to this extraordinary weekend, where we will officially inaugurate the new artificial grass. Until then, I wish you all good health and successful racing.

Yours sincerely, President Sándor Alt

I welcome you with love and respect at the XXIX. Medivid Agility Cup and XX. ParAgility Cup website!

Nearly three decades have passed since July 29, 1995, when the city of Gyula first hosted an agility competition that is now considered one of Hungary’s most significant agility events. It has also been twenty years since Gyulai Kutyás Agility Szabadidősport Klub marked an important milestone in the national and international history of the sport by ‘inventing’ paragility, the agility sport for people with disabilities. Since then, the sport has significantly strengthened and gained worldwide popularity.

My friend Sándor Alt, even in the early 1990s, organized the group that officially established in 2001 within the Váraljai Dog Training School – with the powerful help of Zsolt Prohászka, the namesake of our city’s sports hall, which has hosted this competition for several years – this group today known as Gyulai Kutyás Agility Szabadidősport Klub. The fact that the race was held in 1995 without its own obstacles, illustrates how much work has been done and how far it has traveled in twenty-five years.

From the very beginning, they have been guided by the same goal. Their enthusiasm and dedication remain unbroken to this day, and despite countless challenges and difficulties, they continue to organize incredibly high-quality yet wonderfully enjoyable competitions. This year will be no different, as preparations are already underway for the XXIX. Medivid Agility Cup and the XX. ParAgility Cup. Two excellent, internationally renowned judges—Jirina Mackova from the Czech Republic and Csaba Korán from Hungary—have already accepted the invitation.

This year’s competition will take place on a new artificial grass surface, which the club has been striving to secure funding for over a long period. This upgrade was essential for hosting their competitions in the sports hall, and this summer, they finally succeeded. The National Cooperation Fund provided 6 million forints in support for the purchase, which was further supplemented by an additional 2 million forints from our local government. The 960 square meters of artificial grass, specifically designed to meet the requirements of indoor agility courses. As a result, the club can now host Hungary’s most traditional dog agility competition, the Medivid Agility and ParAgility Cup, on this new surface.

I wish everyone much success and good health for the competitions, and strength and perseverance for the organization. You are always warmly welcome in Gyula, the ‘capital of agility’!
